Playing with Letters

From My Pieced Alphabet:

Stampede

This is an alphabet that looks like it belongs on a wanted poster from the old west. Or at least that version of the old west that we see on TV and in the movies.

The western look is the result of creating a heavy top and bottom to the letter. The horizontal bar in the middle of the letter is 1" wide; but the top and bottom horizontals are much larger at 1 3/4" wide.
The verticals, like the middle horizontal bar, are 1" wide.

Serifs are another major feature of this alphabet. Serifs are the little extra strokes at the ends of a letter.  If there were no serifs there would be no heavy horizontals at the top or bottom of most letters.
